    By: SEO Competitive Intelligence

In this exclusive interview, SEO expert Michael Marshall talks about the role of competitive intelligence in Search Engine Optimization(SEO-CI), and offers some predictions on SEO trends to watch in 2010…

    Read the full interview:
    http://www.seoci.com/interview-with-michael-marshall/

What are 3 SEO trends to watch in 2010?

    in normal search result listings.

    3) The increasing influence of Personalization of Search.

    2) Competitive Intelligence ? understanding strengths and weaknesses of competitors

    3) Measuring performance through Web Analytics

You mentioned personalization of search. Can you elaborate on the impact of this on SEO?

A quote from Mike Moran is worth noting here:

“Widespread personalization will doom traditional rank checking. The question won’t be ‘Does my site rank No. 1?’ but rather ‘For what percentage of searchers does my site rank No. 1′ or ‘What was my average ranking yesterday?’ . [I]t’s the biggest change in search marketing since paid search.”

Any traditional SEO methodologies or SEO Tools that depend heavily on traditional rank checking methods are similarly doomed. This means that any methods for:

    1) Determining which competitors you should emulate, as well as how they should be emulated, and

    2) Determining the effectiveness of your SEO efforts

that depend on traditional rank checking methods are destined for obsolescence. The overall thematic relevance of a page also becomes more important.

You also mentioned competitive intelligence research.

A local business can use it to prioritize which target keyphrases are really worth going after and also to discover important components of a larger company’s SEO strategy, which of those components are most worthy of your attention and emulation, and which of those may be weaknesses that can be exploited…

  • Basic Facebook Marketing Strategies to Generate Endless Leads and Dominate

Posted on March 25th, 2010 admin No comments

    By Srinivasan Metta

According to Alexa, Facebook is the second most popular website next to Google. I researched more and found that around 30% of the global internet subscribers visit Facebook every day. Facebook currently has 300 million subscribers and is growing rapidly. 45 Million updates are made on Facebook every day and world wide users spend around 8 billion minutes per day.

What does it mean to you as an internet marketer? It is a large gold mine. Isn’t it? However, How are you going to position yourself uniquely and promote your business on Facebook considering the large volume of updates being posted on Facebook every day? How do you grasp the attention of the Facebook users? The purpose of this post is to make you aware of the basic Facebook marketing strategies and tools that you need to successfully generate leads and dominate.

Always remember Facebook is a social network and should not be used to pitch your business. Prosperity in your Facebook marketing is directly proportial to the number of solid relationships developed with fellow users. So, Lets gets started

    Facebook Profile

    - A picture is worth thousand words. Make sure to add a picture in your profile
    - Fill in your past info such as schools went and make it public so that people can find you through search
    - Fill in your interests and make it public so that fellow subscribers could relate to you
    - Fill in all your websites such as a blog, Twitter, your capture pages etc on your profile. By default, only your primary website is displayed. I would highly recommend to display all your websites in your profile. Anyone visiting your profile page could click on your URLS and learn more about you

    Add Friends

After creating a profile, do not wait for things to happen. Go ahead and find and add few friends a day every day. It is advised that you can add up to 25-30 friends everyday. Excessive adding of friends will result in removing your page by Facebook administrators.

Interact with friends through like and comment

Once you have added a few friends and see their content on your home page, start interacting with them by liking and commenting on their updates. Commenting on updates could have a viral effect. When you comment on an update, your comment will show up on the updater’s wall and is visible to all his friends. So, it pays to make intelligent comments and get traffic back to your page. Also, feel free to share quotes, posts, and videos that had a positive impact on you. Key is to interact with Facebook friends as much as possible.

    Facebook Photo Albums

Feel free to share your pictures and videos with your friends on Facebook. People would love to know more about you through pictures and videos. If you have been to a networking event and have taken pictures with the leaders and fellow networkers, share those pictures with stories about the events and see the traffic to your website increasing

    Facebook Videos

If a picture is worth thousand words, how much is a video worth? In 2009, video marketing has been growing rapidly and is here to stay. Facebook allows you to either upload videos or shoot a video instantly. More you share the videos, better it is. Do share your videos about networking events, funny incidents, achievements and any other video that could have a positive influence on others. I use the video feature of Facebook in a couple of ways and am seeing phenomenal results:

    1. I introduce myself to recently added friends. A short video describing who I am and appreciating for friendship
    2. I use instant Facebook video recording option to wish birthdays to friends

    Facebook Groups

Group positions you as a leader and displays the value you can provide to fellow networkers. Facebook users who join your group can be converted to prospects for your biz by using effective attraction marketing strategies. It pays to establish a group and providing value to the members of the group through emails, invitations to an event etc. I also use groups in Facebook to identify like minded people and to promote my posts.

    Facebook Events

Facebook allows you to create a public event ( viewable to all members of Facebook) and provides you URL that can be used to communicate on other social networks like Twitter, MySpace etc. I send an event invitation via email to all my group members. Event feature keeps track of the users status (attending, not attending, may be) about the event. I see an increase in numbers for the event when I blast a reminder email to people who were not sure or were planning to attend.

    Facebook Wall posts

Evey user in Facebook has a wall where he posts messages and moderates the comments made. If you are a core Facebook user, I am sure that you must be posting and promoting your content on your wall. However, It is worth much more to learn how to post your content effectively on walls of the members having a huge number of friends. It can be done by giving a lot of value that could be beneficial to the users visiting the page. Facebook will disable your account if they see you spamming. So, be cautious while using this approach.

    Facebook Notes

Do you have a self hosted word press blog? If no, I would highly recommend you to start blogging and provide valuable content. Facebook notes is an awesome feature you can use to make your valuable blog content visible publicly to all members of Facebook. Also, there are applications that imports your blog content into the notes in an automated way. Isn’t that cool?

This feature would increase your blog traffic tremendously and ultimately your sales if you are using the blog as central hub/nerve center as I mentioned in my Attraction Marketing Blueprint post.

    Facebook Applications

I am not a big fan of applications on Facebook as I generate enough traffic using the resources mentioned above. However, there are couple of applications that I personally use

Vuyou (Video Email Application): If you are an internet marketer and are generating leads through various marketing strategies like PPC, classifieds etc, you already might know the value of connecting with the prospect. I use this FREE video email application to connect with my leads as soon as they enter in to my sales funnel.

Networked Blogs: I use this application to increase the visibility for my blog. This is a cool application which allows Facebook users to subscribe to my blog and access my updates regularly.

Once you have these Basic Facebook Marketing tools in place, learn exact step by step Facebook Marketing Blueprint of how you can spend only 30 minutes a day to create at least 20 Raving Fans per day on Facebook and convert them into Paying customers and Distributors for FREE.

  • Internet Marketing Is Necessary To Successful Web Sites

Posted on March 24th, 2010 admin No comments

    By: MD SERVE

Internet marketing is essential to the success of web sites. You can have a professional looking website but what good can it do if internet users are not able to find it when they need your products and services? That is where an internet marketing campaign comes into play.

“Your website has to magically appear before buyers when they need products and services.”

Internet marketing is similar to designing websites- it does not require much experience to do a good job, just good knowledge and a keen eye for details. It is fundamentally important for a good internet marketer to constantly update himself weekly, if not monthly, of online markets. There are many ways to market your website .

    – Find A Competent and Reliable Internet Marketer –

Justify the costs of hiring an Internet Marketer – First of all, getting an internet marketer is not essential for every website. If your website is a business website or a website which you want to generate revenue from, it is good to seek a competent internet marketer to work on your website. For more details visit to www.ultimate-internet-marketing-tricks.com.The costs spent on your website for internet marketing has to be justified and often, they are justified by having more revenue and traffic to your web site.

Potential customers have to know that there are no guarrantees in SEO. Since everything is fundamentally based on search engines, SEO work is at the mercy of major search engines like Google. Many SEO companies tried to secure customers with guarrantees that they cannot fulfil, resulting in lawsuits or customers getting burned for hiring their SEO services.

    – What an Internet Marketer can offer –

In short, an Internet Marketer oversees that your website is built properly for visibility and promoted with the best dollar spent on your internet marketing campaign. It is no good having a website and not appearing in internet searches. Your website has to magically appear before buyers when they need products and services. Internet Marketers deploy search engine optimisation techniques to make your website visible and targeted to internet users.

Internet marketing requires research and analysis effort for individual website, followed by optimisation of website .For more details go to www.perpetual-traffic-generator.com .
Hundreds of hours may be spent on each website, depending on the size of your targetted market. You are essentially paying for the amount of effort involved, effectiveness of your internet marketer and daily sales tracking of your website.

How to choose an Internet Marketer- Internet marketing requires constant updating of skills and knowledge. One crude way to test if your internet marketer is a genuine or fake- Ask your internet marketer about recent events that happened in his field. If he cannot answer that, he must have a genuinely good reason to back himself as a good internet marketer! At times, it is easy to fall prey into the hands of bad internet marketing companies as happened in US and other parts of the world.

It is also important for you to feel comfortable with the amount of money you are spending on getting your site popular before committing yourself to an internet marketing campaign. Internet marketing campaigns typically last a few months and requires monthly tune-ups to your website. Include the costs of an internet marketing campaign when doing your company’s advertising budget.

  • How to Use Twitter For Marketing

Posted on March 24th, 2010 admin No comments

    By Darren Olander

Twitter is a relatively new web 2.0 site that is starting to gain a lot of popularity. That means that a lot of people have heard of it but it is also quite common to run into people who haven’t heard of it.. yet. Twitter.com is this social site that encourages users to post often about what they are currently doing.

A lot of people are using it to improve their marketing reach, by being an active twitterer they gain followers who are interested in what they got going on. This means people being exposed to their updates on a regular basis. For example, if you have hundreds of followers in Twitter and you decide to post an affiliate link, that means that hundreds of people have instantly been exposed to your offer. In this article I will discuss ways to maximize Twitter for your marketing, and also a big mistake to be aware of.

In order to have a fan base per say of followers in Twitter you must be able to keep their interest in you and what you are doing now. “What are you doing?” is the whole foundation of what Twitter is about in the first place. Make sure to post daily if not several times throughout the day updates about what you are doing. The magical thing behind this is that many of your contacts will be able to feel like they know you so much better, will trust you more, and feel much more comfortable about working with you. On the other hand, when you follow others you can learn about them and their possible needs.

The big mistake to watch out for is only posting affiliate links or offers on your Twitter page. This looks like Spam and many people will see you as just abusing Twitter for your own personal gain. Think of it this way, if you would not want to invite your friends or family to keep up with you via Twitter then you are going about it all wrong. As with anything you send out or provide, ninety percent should be content and ten percent (at most) advertising. So this concept is quite simple… constantly post throughout the day what you are doing.. it is usually very simple and only takes a few seconds to post! Secondly, if you write articles or provide content online, provide a link for those in your Twitter posts. You may post many things within one day, but the last thing you post for the day is usually the most important because it will be there the longest. This means that your last post for the day should very well contain a link that you want your followers to see before your start Twittering again the next day!

Another part of Twitter is contributing. As with any social site it should be a give and take relationship. Notice that give comes first… the more you give the more people will want to work with you and the more attention you will receive. Make sure to read and follow other users in Twitter. If you read something interesting or helpful then make sure to reply and say so, or even put a link for it on your Twitter so that you are directing others to more quality content. This can also be as simple as connecting with other users, if they know you are reading their Twitter page they will be much more likely to check out what you have going on too.

To get started in Twitter you should first invite contacts who aren’t using Twitter and also find contacts who are already using Twitter so that you can start following them and also start getting people to follow you. Twitter has a nice invite and find feature that makes this incredibly easy. To grow your reach even more you can start following people who follow or are followed by the people who follow you.. or that you follow. You might need to read that sentence again.. but basically you can find other users to connect with that are already connected to other users.

Now for a big tip. If you really want to maximize the potential with Twitter, you should make sure to take advantage of any plug-ins or sites that support Twitter. Here are three, but I’m sure there will be many more in the future if not already. Squidoo allows you to input your Twitter account info into your Squidoo account and then it can automatically post updates to your Twitter account when you create or update Squidoo lenses. Facebook has an application called Twitter, it automatically updates your Facebook status when you make a Twitter post. The other tool is a free WordPress plug-in called TweetMyBlog that allows you to create a two-way connection from your blogs to Twitter. TweetMyBlog allows you to use a widget on your WordPress blogs that will display your current Twitter feed.. that way all visitors to your blog can look at the widget and see a running feed of your latest Twitter posts. If they click on that they will be brought to your Twitter page. In addition, when you make a new post to your blog, TweetMyBlog will automatically make a post to your Twitter page with a link to your latest blog post. Imagine the extra exposure you can receive by using these tools that help people see more of what you are doing.

Lastly, have fun! Twitter is a social site… so interact and enjoy!

  • How Social Media Optimization Benefits Your Business

Posted on March 23rd, 2010 admin No comments

    By: Michael Cohn

Social media optimization (SMO) is a subset of search engine optimization (SEO). SMO optimizes your business site by advertising through social medial sites, blog sites, online communities, podcasts, and message boards.

SMO is accomplished through really simple syndication (RSS) feeds, video and photo sharing, social bookmarking, blogging, and social news buttons. The concept is to drive traffic without spending money on search engine advertising. SMO creates links to a site by creating more visibility through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Squidoo, Blogger, Hubpages, Digg, or Delicious, etc.

There are two categories of SMO methods:

    (1) Social media features added to the content itself, including: RSS feeds, social news and sharing buttons, and incorporating third-party community functionalities, such as images and videos.

    (2) Promotional activities in social media, aside from the content being promoted, including: blogging, commenting on other blogs, participating in discussion groups, and posting status updates on social networking profiles.

SMO is related to search engine marketing. However, it differs in several ways. Primarily, the focus on driving traffic from sources other than search engines, although it improves search ranking, is also a benefit of successful SMO.

As a technique, SMO is connected to viral marketing. In other words, word-of-mouth is created not through friends or family but through the use of networking in social bookmarking, video, and photo sharing websites. Similarly, the use of blogs achieves the same result by sharing content through the use of RSS feeds in the blogosphere and special blog search engines.

There are several ways in which to achieve SMO.

    Getting links to your website

The popularity of your website is determined by the amounts of links that are pulled through. An analogy to this would be the number of votes that a political candidate receives from the public, which would demonstrate the popularity of the candidate.

    Creating inbound links

When it comes to search engine ranking, inbound links are essential to the popularity of the site and its content. You should create links to sites and blogs that contain links that lead back to your site and thus, increase your online presence.

    Bookmarking and tagging

Bookmarking and tagging can be accomplished more easily by employing content features, such as buttons like “add to Facebook” and other bookmarking sites. Also, you can include appropriate tags to your pages in addition to your home page for popular bookmarking sites.

Allowing others to make use of your content

YouTube is a perfect example of this. YouTube allows you to download videos to your site(s) in order to jazz up your content. Another way is by syndicating your content through RSS feeds so that other people can use it to their own advantage. The positive result of this for you is that it will drive increased traffic to your website.

    Making your content travel

Within your niche area, you can make changes to your site that will allow it to drive your content all over the place. You can accomplish this by including PDFs and audio and video files so that you can submit them to your list of members and also to sites that are related to your niche market. This will help you to create back links to your site so that your website traffic is increased.

The good and bad of SMO

Just as with other ways of driving traffic, SMO is the victim of spamming and link farming. Although the pure concept behind social bookmarking is to provide links that are useful, informative, and interesting, there are many cases of people using their own sites without paying any mind to the content quality, which may be cheap, duplicated, and pirated. It takes away from the web space of the bookmarking site and creates inferior content.

  • Becoming a Successful Internet Marketing Company Affiliate

Posted on March 23rd, 2010 admin No comments

    By Christopher J Enders

Participating in affiliate programs as an internet marketing

company affiliate is a viable way to make money on the internet

without having your own products and services for sale. In

essence, as an internet marketing company affiliate, you market

other companies’ products and services for a fee.

Generally affiliate programs are either one-tier or two-tier

programs which means if you participate in a one-tier program,

you get paid for referrals that you send to the company for which

you are an internet marketing company affiliate. If you

participate in a two-tier program, you also get paid for

referring other affiliates to the program.

In most affiliate programs, an internet marketing company

affiliate gets paid either a percentage of sales that result from

their referrals, or a flat fee per lead or click-through that

result from their internet marketing efforts.

The defective line of thinking that leads an internet marketing

company affiliate to failure and disappointment is the thought

that being an internet marketing company affiliate is an easy,

    get-rich-quick business opportunity. Unsuccessful internet

marketing company affiliates are those who don’t realize that in

order to make money with affiliate programs you have to actively

    market them.

The error that is common to a new internet marketing company

affiliate is that they launch a website to display links, or even

pages, for the purpose of promoting various affiliate programs

for which they are an internet marketing company affiliate for,

but they don’t actively market their website or their affiliate

products. As a result, their website doesn’t generate any revenue

    or generates very little revenue.

To be a successful internet marketing company affiliate you

absolutely have to market your affiliate products and services.

You can actually make loads of money as an internet marketing

company affiliate, but affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-

quick scheme. It is a business opportunity that must be taken

seriously and it does require work, some internet marketing

knowledge, and some funding for launching an aggressive internet

    marketing campaign.

Because you don’t have to put out money for product development

or inventory, starting an internet business as an internet

marketing company affiliate may not require as much of an

investment as other types of internet businesses, but assuming

that it is a zero-investment venture is flawed thinking.

For most programs, as an internet marketing company affiliate you

have to have a website through which you market your affiliate

programs because some affiliate programs view your website as

part of their approval process and some only allow you to use

affiliate links to them on a website. In addition to the

investment involved with website development an internet

marketing company affiliate also needs funding for internet

    marketing of the affiliate programs.

Common internet marketing methods used by an internet marketing

company affiliate to promote affiliate programs include search

engine marketing, email marketing, linking campaigns,

distribution of expert articles, viral marketing, and

participation in online newsgroups and forums.

Purchasing advertising through pay-per-click search engines,

ezines, directories and so forth is also a method of internet

marketing that is conducive to promoting affiliate products and

services as an internet marketing company affiliate.

One thing is for certain. In order to make serious money as an

internet marketing company affiliate, you simply have to market

the products and services of your affiliate programs.

Some website operators join affiliate programs and become an

internet marketing company affiliates for the purpose of

supplementing their income a little while providing their website

visitors with easy access to products and services that may be

beneficial to them. For them, actively marketing affiliate

programs may not be a necessity because the affiliate programs

are not their primary source of income.

However, if you desire to be an internet marketing company

affiliate who generates revenue solely from affiliate programs,

you must be an active internet marketer.

  • What is SEO Anyway?

Posted on March 22nd, 2010 admin No comments

    By Patricia Tuley

Both pay-per-click and SEO are targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible. Marketing and SEO are different, yet very, very similar. SEO are considered as the main factors in enhancing the traffic of one’s website. The concepts of good SEO are hardly a secret. The people who least understands issues with URL structure and SEO are the very people who create them: web developers, programmers, and software developers.

Many long-time SEO’s are now looking at the big picture and working with usability analysts. Some SEO are scam artists. I find it interesting that so many newcomers are given the wrong impression that there is one almighty answer to doing well in search engines. SEO are specialized techniques used to optimize your web site, to be Search engine friendly and increase your chances of placing well in searches. But SEO can also be the most profitable methods of driving leads because any leads you receive from SEO are free leads.

There are a large number of companies that adopt a fast and unethical approach to SEO known as Black Hat SEO. They employ unethical techniques that are against search engine policies. The best results from SEO are rarely achieved overnight. Black hat SEO are the techniques used to fool the search engines in order to bring in more traffic to websites. Website owners who unknowingly utilize black hat techniques of SEO are more vulnerable to changes in search engine algorithms and faced being banned.

Most hardcover books on the subject of SEO are best viewed as a vehicle to help the beginner understand the process of search engine optimization. This is because the principles behind SEO are not easy. They are very informative and most webmasters are involved in SEO and using it. White hat and black hat SEO are two opposing views of how to do search engine optimization. In a nutshell, SEO are methods that aim to improve the position or rank of a website in the listings produced by search engines. The benefits of SEO are almost unlimited.

Watch out for SEO Tools and software that is outdated and totally useless. Always research before you buy any SEO software because the search engine Algorithms are constantly changing thereby improving their search technologies to provide the most relevant results for their users. SEO tools for Google, MSN and Yahoo are numerous. SEO tools for press release optimization were also launched by PRWeb at the end of June called SEO Wizard. Search engine optimization is not easy, but with the right SEO tools, your website promotion task just got a lot easier. Blogs are one of the best SEO tools around and some like WordPress are free. You need unique content that nobody has in order for it to pass duplicate content filters. That’s why it is important to get your content articles indexed before you submit them to the search engines. Ethical search engine optimization is a must or you will get banned. It’s not if, it’s when. Search engine optimization was and still is fascinating to me. Search Engine Optimization is a crucial part in a websites success. The objective of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is to achieve high natural search engine placement for relevant keywords or keyword phrases. Visit my site often and add it to your favorites as I update you with the latest news and rumors in the search engine optimization industry everyday. The effects of bad search engine optimization are devastating and very depressing. Each website is unique in its own way and hence your (SEO) plans differ from website to website.

My site has some tips on how to perform search engine optimization (also know as SEO) on your website. I have a free, comprehensive guide to the practice of search engine optimization for those unfamiliar with the subject if you send me an email. There’s a lot of hype out there about search engine optimization (SEO) services. Some are good and some are bad. Read through Google’s terms of service as they have some information on their site about it.

Too often, visual design and SEO are perceived as a mutual sacrifice. Pay-per-click and SEO are targeted to get your website placed as close to the top of search engine results as possible. Pay-per-click cost money, but the clicks from SEO cost you nothing. SEO are considered as the main factors in enhancing the traffic of one’s website. Both, PPC and SEO are important. The truth is, the most rewarding part of SEO are often the slowest to reward. PR and SEO are based mostly on editorial credibility and relevance, not a direct payment for exposure.

SEO are specialized techniques used to optimize your web site, to be Search engine friendly and increase your chances of placing well in searches. There are a large number of companies that adopt a fast and unethical approach to SEO known as Black Hat SEO. The main components of on-page SEO are optimization of the title tag, the headline tag, the body text and the Meta tags. Companies interested in SEO are occasionally not very happy with how their website looks. Programmers with an understanding of SEO are in high demand. As a matter of fact, sites with excellent Search Engine Optimization are making giant leaps in rankings and getting a major boost in free traffic with Google’s new update.

Great web usability and SEO are wasted if folks who visit your web can’t tell that you are worthy of their trust. Those who specialize in SEO are in the unique position of understanding the web in a way that no traditional marketing agency can hope to. White hat and black hat SEO are two opposing views of how to do search engine optimization so if you use one, choose with great care. The second most important aspect for high SEO is the headers. Use H1, H2, H3, H4 headers.

Many of the techniques that can be used for SEO are banned by the various search engines. The benefits of SEO are almost unlimited. Bad techniques of SEO are a strict ‘NO’ – Like same color text as the background and Doorway pages can get your website banned. The five forces of SEO are relevant Keywords, unique Content, clean Code, relevant Links and proper use of Technology. Designing for users and designing for SEO are not mutually exclusive goals. There will be compromise. White hat SEO are techniques that follow precisely the rules and guidelines provided by search engines stand a better chance of receiving traffic and higher rankings than black hat techniques.

For this reason it is important to try to stay updated as far as new SEO are concerned. The off-page elements of website promotion and SEO are just as important. The majority of issues with SEO is very basic and just takes time to be picked up on search engines. Web design and SEO are two very different disciplines, but a certain degree of collaboration is required. It’s easy to see why effective SEO are now very much in demand. Black hat SEO is techniques used to trick or manipulate search engines for higher rankings.

If done properly, the results of your SEO efforts are very impressive. Those who practice what some refer to as “ethical” and “correct” SEO are called White Hat SEO’s. The most important for SEO is to follow the rules and you won’t have anything to worry about.

  • How To Use Twitter And Social Media Marketing To Explode Your Online Profits

Posted on March 20th, 2010 admin No comments

    By: Jeremy Gislason

It’s not surprising that social media has become so popular in so short a time. Not only is it a source of entertainment for most people, it is also the newest strategy for acquiring customers for businesses. And with hot new tools like Twitter, social media marketing has only become more progressive and popular!

    What Is Twitter?

In case you’re not familiar with Twitter, it is a social media tool that allows people to know what their fellow twitterers (people using twitter) are doing at this very moment.

Are you getting ready for bed? Put that on Twitter! Are you buying a new couch or writing a report on the effects of social media marketing? Put that on Twitter! Are you throwing a birthday party for your golden retriever? Well, you can put that on Twitter as well. There are no boundaries as to what you can put on Twitter. In Twitter, even the most mundane updates about your life can be pretty liberating.

Sounds simple, right? Perhaps, it is this simplicity that has made Twitter quite a sensation on the Internet. There’s also something amusing about knowing what other people are doing and letting them know your own business as well. This combination of fun and simplicity is what ultimately appeals to Twitter fans.

    Applying Twitter In Business

If you’re business-minded, then you probably already have more than a few ideas on how to make this social media marketing tool work for you. Having a Twitter account allows you to inform your clients and would-be clients the progress in your company. You’re not putting up an ad every week (because that tends to be annoying). However, you get the chance to share with them what’s happening to your company’s products, people, tools, etc. right now.

Twitter, unlike MySpace and Facebook, poses an advantage for new and advanced marketers. As an efficient social media marketing tool, Twitter allows you to build a giant list of followers. It allows your clients and subscribers to see what you’re doing right now. It gives them access to your immediate profile and permits you to share your ideas with other twitterers. All free of charge.

How Twitter Can Explode Your Profits

While many people have other purposes and values for the use of the free service, the marketer can use Twitter to jumpstart a list of followers that can grow into thousands.

If you’re someone who sells used cars, you can use Twitter to attract members who are interested in automobiles. When a new shipment comes in, you can use Twitter to announce that the latest Ford model has arrived. Or if you’re having a sale, you can use Twitter to let everybody know about it.

These followers are the next best thing to customers. If they haven’t bought anything from you yet, then you can rest assured that they will be buying something soon. As long as you keep providing them something nice to look forward to, they will always be enticed to purchase something from your company.

Think of it as fishing. You already have the fish interested in your bait. All you have to do is wait for the fish to bite. According to quantcast.com, Twitter reaches about 6.1 million U.S. people every month. This social media tool has also reached other countries and is hugely popular in Japan. In fact, there are other Twitter-like applications that have popped up due to its insane fame!

Despite the huge popularity of Twitter, it is not a disorganized system that doesn’t have any limits. For example, you can only send 1,000 updates, 100 API requests and send 250 direct messages each day. And while there is no limit to the people who can follow you, the same freedom doesn’t apply vice-versa.

The maximum number of people you can follow is limited to 2,000. In Twitter-speak, to follow means to receive Twitter updates. This limit will only be lifted if you manage to attract more than 2,000 followers to your account.

According to Twitter, this is done to prevent SPAM users from adding up into their system and to prevent abuse from all current members.

It’s not that difficult to attract more followers into your account. In the long run, this will only make your Twitter account more meaningful because of the effort you’ve put into it.

The beauty at this stage is that once you are at such a level, it’s easier to attract new followers into your account. The benefits from taking such steps are acquiring your own list of eager followers (in which you can pitch your own products and services); and more importantly, gaining new business contacts.

    Other Social Media Marketing Methods

There are other methods of social media marketing available for your use. Twitter isn’t the only way to enhance your business and get a constant flow of leads.

Other methods you can explore include:

    1) Blogs

    2) Community forums

    3) Social networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and LinkedIn.

    4) Video-sharing sites such as Youtube, Metacafe, Google videos, Yahoo videos, and AOL videos.

    5) Content sharing sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, Wetpaint, Qassia, and Google Knol.

These days, you shouldn’t just limit yourself to one thing. With the Internet as vast as it is, you should use every opportunity to make new contacts and establish yourself. Besides, think of all the new things you can learn from interacting with other people online!

Leave comments on your choice blogs and participate in forum discussions that allow for signature files after every post.  Make informative videos and upload them to video-sharing sites.  Explode your list of contacts through social networking sites. Share your knowledge and be recognized as an authority by submitting your content to content-sharing sites.

Not only will these help you establish credibility, you probably won’t even have to worry or stress about making money in the future. Remember that social media marketing, like any other marketing methods, works if you work it! Now like many of our mentors say – get to work!

  • Blog Promotion Made Easy

Posted on March 20th, 2010 admin No comments

    By Mark West

It can be said with certainty that creating a blog and launching it is easy enough compared to promoting it. You can follow some techniques to popularize your blog. The key is to be at it consistently and then you can see the results pouring in – in the form of increased traffic.

First thing you as a blog owner should understand is that building substantial traffic to your blog is a process that takes time. It typically takes several months. To make a blog search engine friendly and content rich should be your primary aim. In fact these two points should be kept in mind during the blog building phase itself. When your blog is search engine optimized it will automatically feature near the top in search results which will in turn attract traffic to your blog. When the content is good the blog gets word of mouth advertisement and is automatically promoted. There are many sources of traffic which you can try to tap. Some sources have the capability to generate a big number of visits while others are significantly low. Searches give considerably high levels of traffic. Social networking is much hyped but results vary. Bloggers referred from another blog are also good traffic generators. You need to stay focused to recognize what exactly works for your blog and try to work hard on that promotion technique to take your blog forward.

A blog that has fresh posts every day or many times in a day will definitely create an image of being active; that some one is working on it diligently. New posts there fore bring back visitors for more information. They also serve to add new pages to the indexes maintained by search engines. Having comments for the posts will be great because it gives an impression that not only many people are following your posts but they find the posts good enough to pump in their comments. You should remember a thumb rule that repeat visits are a key to a blog’s sustained success. When visitors come back it means they are interested – they are more likely to leave comments, become your customers, spread your blog news to their friends circle and so on. So repeat visitors is equivalent to trusted network building on a vast scale.

Link building is another technique that you should make your priority. They get traffic from other blogs plus also improve search engine rankings. If you can get inbound links from blogs that already have a following it improves your blog credibility automatically. Another important factor you might want to consider is to spread out your traffic from different sources – having visitors coming from just one source alone could be risky. If some thing happens to the flow from that source then your blog will be left stranded. Where as when you have more than one source generating traffic for you there will always be a fall back option. Forming a network with co-bloggers is a sound move in terms of building traffic because a wide network means better exposure.
