Since Blogger.com hosts your blog, if feel the material in your blog is inappropriate, for whatever reason, they can delete your blog. WordPress.com Advantages

This is hosted on your own domain name at a separate host. Your domain name can be anything you can buy. Since this blog is all yours, you do not have to worry about it being deleted. You can create as many pages as you want covering whatever you like. You can also schedule posts to release later.

While all the formats allow for a few themes, this blog format allows you the greatest amount of choices. You can find free, paid or even custom built themes for your blog. You can also edit the codes in the theme you choose.

Your blog can make money with Google AdSense, advertisements, product reviews or any option you choose. Plugins are mini-programs that can be loaded to add more features to your site. There are now plugins that allow you to turn your blog into a membership website, or add a forum.

WordPress.org Disadvantages

Since you must host the site you will pay monthly or annual hosting fees and pay an annual domain name fee. While installation is not difficult, you may need to hire a programmer to get it installed. You will also need to be responsible for updates, however these are typically push button easy.

Which one?

Maybe having control is important, which is why I choose WordPress.org and teach my clients the same. Then again free may be really important to you. In the end you are the only one who can decide which features are absolute must haves for you and your blog.
